 About

ROBERT

Robert Chan was born in Malacca, a city on the west coast of Malaysia. He was born into the Peranakan culture, the descendant of Chinese immigrants that arrived to the Malay Peninsula a few centuries ago. This culture blended together not only the Chinese foods, but also the Malay, Indian, British, Japanese, Dutch and Portuguese (Eurasian) recipes. These multi-cultural influences created a unique way of cooking also known as Nyonya cuisine.

Robert lived in Singapore for 9 years and took on all the inspirations from the Singaporean cuisine. Adding to that mixture of cultures, Robert moved to New Orleans in 1999 and then met his now wife, Sofia, who is from Spain...

    We hired Global Dinner Table on 2 occasions: our daughter's graduation from A&M and our family reunion. Each time, we had 30-40 guests. Both times, Global Dinner Table provided us wonderfully tasty food and great attention to details. They even served separate portions to guests with certain food allergies or diets. Loved working with Robert and his wife . All guests had an awesome time socializing while feasting on freshly prepared, multi-course meal. Perfect way to entertain friends and family in the comfort of your own backyard.

    Friend and fellow foodie/chef asked me to try one of his dishes.

    Main: Pork Curry

    Side: Fragrant Jasmine Rice

    Salad: Carrots and Seaweed with mirin and rice vinegar

    Robert Chan this dish was superb!

    Perfect blend of spice and savory balanced with a little umami. Jasmine rice was the perfect side!

    The Chicken was tender & Delicious. The pickle veggies were a great compliment. I loved the heat from the jalapeño. Loved the dish and ate every bit!!
